Inca Quarry Trail – Full Day

Nature, culture, and adventure in the heart of the Sacred Valley

Embark on a one-of-a-kind full-day adventure through some of the most captivating landscapes of the Sacred Valley. The highlight of this hike is the stunning Sun Gate (3,900 m / 12,795 ft), perched atop a scenic hill. From this natural lookout, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks — the perfect spot to capture unforgettable photos.

Our journey takes you beyond the typical tourist trails, straight to the source of Inca history: the ancient Cachicata quarries. Here, Inca stonemasons once carved massive blocks of stone destined for the majestic Temple of the Sun in Ollantaytambo. Remarkably, ancient burial sites with visible human remains can still be seen today, offering a rare glimpse into a long-lost world.

This trail remained unknown to most locals until just a few years ago and is still one of the Sacred Valley’s best-kept secrets. Far from the crowded paths, it offers a raw and authentic experience, surrounded by nature and rich cultural heritage.

The hike to the Inca Quarries is a steep ascent of about 2.5 to 3 hours — a challenging trek, but one that’s more than worth the effort. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic Andean views and a deep connection to the powerful legacy of the Inca civilization.
